Amanda Knox Murder Conviction Overturned on Appeal

Filed under: Criminal Law, News Tags: by Steven F. Fairlie @ October 3, 2011

Shocking news from the Italian Courts – Amanda Knox and her boyfriend have had their Murder convictions overturned and have been released from prison today.   While there are two camps – those that believe in their guilty and those who believe they were innocent – no one will ever know with certainty what happened in this case.  The family of the victim, who had her throat slashed, handled the turn of events with grace and dignity, issuing the following statement:

“We respect the decision of the judges but we do not understand how the decision of the first trial could be so radically overturned. We still trust the Italian judicial system and hope that the truth will eventually emerge.”
