Doylestown psychiatrist Basem Shlewiet, 42, was arrested at his office on Thursday for inappropriately touching at least three patients “in a criminal manner”. Police allege that Shlewiet, who attended the University of Pennsylvania and has been practicing for nine years, touched two victims, ages 14 and 22, on their breasts purportedly in order to check their blood pressure. Police also allege that Shlewiet touched the third victim, age 17, in her vaginal area in order to massage her to lower her blood pressure. Shlewiet was charged with two felony counts of Unlawful Contact With A Minor, two misdemeanor counts of Corruption of Minors, six misdemeanor counts of Indecent Assault, and one misdemeanor count of Indecent Assault Of A Person Less Than 16 Years Of Age. Shlewiet is currently at the Bucks County prison, as he was unable to post 10% of his $250,000 bail.

We have been contacted by one person who was inappropriately touched – if you or someone you know was a victim of Shlewiet’s inappropriate conduct please let us know. We have found that it is much more effective to represent multiple victims in this type of case than just one.
